Unedited excerpt from my story:
“Fine,” he knew he wasn’t a fashion expert. “Then what would you like to talk about?” He asked me, looking into my eyes.
“Hm... I don’t know. Where are we?”
“We’re in North Dakota.”
I groaned. “Why didn’t we take a plane?”
“Hey, don’t blame me. Weren’t you the one who said ‘Ooh, a long drive would be a lot of fun!’”
“I was being sarcastic!”
“Oh really?” He muttered. “Anyways, a plane would be too easy. Isn’t it nice spending around five days with me?”
“I guess, as long as you don’t talk about fashion.”
He laughed. The station on the radio started to get staticky. He reached his free hand over to the radio to tamper with the buttons. He looked up when he found the nearest station. “How would you like to play a game of ‘What if . . .?’”
“Sure,” I smiled. I love games. “You go first.”
“Okay. What if a bear tried to cross this road?”
I laughed. Where did he come up with these things? “Well, you’d probably run it over. But if you stopped, I’d run outside and remove him from the road.”
“You’re weird,” He noted.
“Thanks. It’s my turn now,” I gave him an evil smile. “What if an airport was coming up on our right?”
“I’d drive right past it,” he gave me a smug smile. “I might even wave goodbye”
“You’re evil!” I accused.
“Coming from you, that’s a compliment. Thank you.”
I rolled my eyes. “Enough of this game.”
