Visiting Volterra

Hey ya´all!
Like I said once, I just made a class trip to Italy. Luckily, I was able to convince my teacher that the most amazing city would be Volterra and that it would be very worthy to go visiting it.
The good thing was that I got to Tuscane a lil earlier then the others because I drove the private car (a class trip always needs a private car…!) and since we were located somewhat nearby Volterra, I had the chance to go there several times.

First thing: It is really beatiful. I was in kind-of-awed-silence-status when I went through the small alleys for the first time. But then I missed the fountain on the piazza.
I had a certain image of the city and it didn’t completely fit on the real city. However, after the second time I started to really like Volterra and enjoyed being there.

Of cause I took a lot of pictures (like I promised…):

That´s what it looks like when you´re on the hill, standing next to the city-walls.

^ This is “on the way”. I´m not sure if this´d have been Alices street because it´s to small to drive fast. On the other side of Volterra there was one that was much more beautiful and larger… (I only found out about that because we had a little detour… but that was a highlight for me. That road was built in a very comfortable way and we could get a lota speed…)

The class trip actually was an “art-trip”; I visit a Waldorf School and it´s common for us to do such a thing in the 12th class. We had three courses: Architecture, drawing and stone-work (marble).

If you´re interested I could show you what we did (there are a lot of funny photos... Like half naked boys working with machines and marble…
Anyone interested now…?!?)

Cool pictures!!! That's so awesome that you could go there. I'm going to Europe next summer, so maybe I will be able to go to Volterra. You are so lucky :) thanks for posting these!

In general you´re all invited to come to my place if you ever visit Germany!!
I live on a farm and we´ve got a lot of space and several rooms that guests can use.

Sweet! My family lives in Switzerland though, so I'm staying with them. But thanks for the offer! If i need a place to stay when i go to Germany though, I'll come visit you Very Happy

I live in the very west "corner", right next to the Netherlands and Belguim, the town´s called Aachen ("Aken").

I like Switzerland by the way, my familiy and myself go there every spring for over 14 years now Very Happy

If I´ll ever visit Italy again I have to go to Volterra for sure.

you are INSANELY lucky! I am trying to convince my parents that we HAVE to go see central Europe and that we MUST visit Volterra....of course I wouldn't go HUNTING for vampires...

That is seriously amazing!! Any mysterious tour guides come up to you??

I'm actually heading out to Germany this summer for an orchestra trip! But I don't think my director would let us go off for a couple of days... Is it really pretty there?
