| Here is what I do. I get on to check my email and really quick post on this site--usually just to check up on a few threads. Then, i go and do my homework, and if i have time, i check here again before I go to bed. | |

| i have the same problem mommy. i procrastinate on everything...i should be doing my algebra, social studies, and english homework right now, but i get distracted so easy...when am i ever going to use the algbra forumla to discover how many baseball games are played with 56 players? that doesn't even make sense! i usually have my school website pulled up on a different tab than this, then flick over to it whenever my parents come in so it looks like i'm working...i procrastinate my prcrastination...like right now i'd rather eat ice cream than post...but im posting. *sigh* | |

| Ah. This is a problem for me too except instead of being on here procrastinating, I'm usually texting. Or listening to music. Or reading even! Why do I want to read but not do homework??? It makes no sense. I think I'm doing well in my classes, but this is the first year that's actually starting to challenge me. I'm a little scared | |

| I don't have the procrastination problem because... Well... I'm never on here anymore, for one. And I'm trying to prove to my parents that I CAN do school work. So far, I'm awesome.
I could be blunt and say, "Welcome to life. Wait for your time to have fun after your work is done." but that's not necessarilly true.
I punish myself to do my work. I tell myself, "Okay... I can't eat or hang out with friends until I finish this..." And it works, 'cause the computer is the most boring tool ever to me now. Sometimes I take my work to my sister's dorm and get it done there while hanging out with my friends, though.
It's all a matter of knowing how to manage your time. Homework first, then play.
I'm actually in a class that kind of teaches you how to get your brain to want to do homework. My professor is kind of crazy, but she makes some very fair points sometimes.
Next time you don't feel like doing your work, notice what you think about it. If your thinking to yourself, "Aw, man, I don't want to do this. It's so stupid. I'd rather be out with friends or doing something fun..." Then your brain goes, "Okay, let's go." and is put into a drive of immotivation. If you tell yourself, "Okay, I have to get this done. After I do, I can go hang out with so-and-so." Your brain is then put into a state of mind that wants to work, because you are working for something.
My professor also mentioned in one of her lectures how to get in "flow" with your school work. Everyone here has the problem with time just completely slowing down when you do homework. When you get in "flow", time goes by fast. Just like if you're having fun with something, time seems to speed up. That's flow. Try to have fun with your school work, and you'll have it done in no time.
Everything I just said works with me. The people in this thread like Steph3, Ellie, Dizzy, and Mace know I was THE BIGGEST procrastinator when I was still in high school (I almost didn't graduate). I was staying up until 1-2 in the morning and was VERY sleep deprived toward the end of my senior year because I was always on here. | |
